Engineering

CAD

Our engineering department utilizes Autodesk Inventor CAD software. We can turn your napkin sketch into a full blown 3D CAD file. We like to do a little extra work up front by making very detailed models so we can analyze every aspect of the design before it hits production. This stage is the time to make sure customer requirements for strength, tolerance, and cosmetics, and function are met. The CAD design is also where we start to lay out the quality requirements for each component of the design.

Design for Manufacturing

Once we have a digital model, we can start to look at the most efficient way to build the part using our production processes. Crossing the design against a set of criteria such as Design for 3D print, Design for Welding, and Design for Assembly means we can shape the product to make the best use of each area of our production. This process is where major cost savings can be incorporated both in material and labour.

CAM

Every single machine on our shop floor is programmed from engineering. We pride ourselves on having maximum machine up-time. Our many different CAM software packages convert our CAD model into a set of instructions for each machine.
